About JGBC - the best way to get JG Fit.
MISSION: To help refine and strengthen aspiring Junior Lifeguards swim skills through stretching, calisthenics, and swim drills & workouts to help them pass the swim test for the Junior Lifeguard program they intend on trying out for (i.e., Avila Beach, Cayucos, Morro Bay, Oceano State Beach, or Pismo Beach), and go into the summer with confidence.​
​In 2009, Phill "The Flying Fish" Toriello (Avila Beach Jr. Lifeguard Instructor of 17 years) created the JG Boot Camp series to help children prepare both mentally and physically for their tryouts. For years Phill watched as parents showed up to tryouts thinking that their children could make the cutoff times, only to find out that the child really wasn't prepared. Unfortunately, due to their busy school and sports schedules, and lack of interest in swim teams, the child lacked the necessary conditioning to pass their tryout time. Needless to say these type of tryout situations often ended up in tears and disappointment.
In an attempt to help parents, and most importantly the children, avoid this type of unnecessary let down, JG Boot Camp was created. What is JG Boot Camp? JG Boot Camp is a modified swim lesson, swim team workout, and JG orientation all wrapped into one compact bundle that is dedicated to helping your child prepare for one of THE BEST youth program experiences in the world. Whether your child loves swimming, running, surfing, or all of the above, Junior Lifeguards provides it all.
